a boyfriend of this girl at work is spoiled like none other. he has a brand new 911 turbo AND an Integra Type R with a JDM front end. he is 19.

this other guy (from work) has a civic hatch (eg6) with a JDM b16a2. he is 24, and has a lot of experience with cars. in 98 he had a crx with a b16 in it, and at that time there were not very many conversion parts, and he had to run the vtec off an msd box using the rpm activator. "ghetto fab"

the 19 year old walks in to my work to see his gf and the 24 year old RUNS over to him and starts talking cars with him because the girl talks about nothing but her bf and how much money his parents have. the ITR has a CAI and exhaust. the eg6 has the engine swap, i/h/e, chipped ecu. the boyfriend, not surprisingly, knows hardly anything about cars. the 24 year old finds out what he needs to know and says "i will CLOWN your ass in the 1/4 mile". the 19 year old replies with "ill run against you in my 911 then" and the 24 year old says "well at least i dont need a fat window banner that says 'Powered by Mom and Dad'". the 19 year old had nothing to say and just leaves.

they are going to race some time next week from what i hear

the civic is running 14.5 and should have no problem beating a near stock ITR with someone with hardly any racing experience.

Some kids are spoiled. Some people are jealous. Not fond of either one.

Should be an interesting race but really, what does it matter if their parents payed for their car or if they drive a japanese car, people need to relax more and enjoy whatever it is they drive without worrying about what everyone else is driving.

I'm neither jealous nor spoiled. Im what you call self made, everything I own and every car i've driven i've worked and paid for myself. Theres pride in that for me, but I dont look down on a kid because his parents made sure he was well off and happy.

Isnt that what we'd want for our kids?

But I do draw the line when he wastes mom & dad's money, cant drive a RWD, keeps wrecking cars, doesnt seem to care that he's wasting thousands, and is generally ignorant when it comes to the technical aspect of racing.

I know a couple rich kids who have an infinite budget for their cars, the difference is that they know their stuff and do all their own engine work.

totally agree with that. Some people are luckier than others, so get over it. It just sucks when they're all stuck up about it and are jerks.

It's the parent's fault for not drawing a line.

:gives: ya know, it's cool that the 24 year old dude is going to show the other dude what's up, but it's nothing more than a pissing contest. "Your parents bought you your car so I'm going to show you that you're not that great with it." More power to him.

My parents have bought all of my cars so far for me. I hope the "spoiled kid" takes his M&D Powered car and wipes the floor with the jealous guy.

Yeah what the heck is with the 24 year old? From the way you wrote it, it seems like the 24 year old guy just jumps on him for no reason other then his parents bought him the car. What an asshole he should of just decked the guy in the face for saying that crap.

Hey man. If you parents were willing to give you a 911, would YOU say no?

Exactly. So i think being jealous is dumb.

yea what is up with that 24 yr old? seems like he got mad at that 19 yr old guy for no good reasons. maybe, since that 19 yr old didnt know much about cars, he thought that the guys hatch was really that much faster when he said he would clown his ass? so maybe he was confused and said he ll use the 911 then? either ways, from the way you wrote it, seems like the 24 yr old was being an asshole.

Personally, I just think the kid has idiot parents. What kind of parent gives their kid a 911? I can understand buying your kid a new car, but it should still be a reasonable one, not some $60,000 sports car.

Cl0ak

Maybe to them 60,000 is like us buying our kids a 1500.00 car, if I had the money when I had kids I'd make sure they all had safe, reliable, nice cars if I could afford it and I'm sure altmost everyone else here would too.

What I told RedNeck about some of the High-Schools here in in Arizona:

"In some High-Schools here in AZ, the difference between the parents and the kids is that the kids drive BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes, Corvettes and such, while the parents drive Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, and Porsches."

Seriously.

One of the kids in my college works at a Discount Tire near one of these areas, and he told me a story of some 16yr-old kid who came in looking to purchase 26-inch rims for a brand-new Escalade.

My friend asked him "is that your parent's car?". As you probably are expecting, the kid said, "nah, that's my Escalade."

I dunno. If I'm ever that rich, I'd probably help my son build or restore a car. No expenses spared, but at least he'll have an appreciation for what went into the car.

Totally agree with that idea, its a bonding thing too when you build a car with your father. The great thing about having the money to do it is the car will be safer, and easier to restore.

I think if your parents can buy you a nice car then good for you. I dont think that makes them any less worth of the car then anyone ealse. However what where this kids parents thnking buy this kid a 911? :eek7: they must not love him.

I dont mind being powered by mom and dad. But the feeling is different when you work hard for your own car.

From what's been said...the 19 year old wasn't shooting his mouth off to begin with... so the jealous guy needs to be outright punched in the face.

Man, ya'll should go to some of the schools in Dallas. I counted at least three Ferraris (new ones, not older) in the parking lot at one, and a countless number of other Euro sports cars. Shit, In houston, every other car is a bad ass car. My first car was my dad's old 944 Turbo, and I got it when he bought a new Benz. Now I drive a POS lancer, and if I drove a bad ass car that my parrents bought, I wouldn't care that I didn't buy it, cuz its a bad ass car.
