transmission fluid

I know this has to be a dumb question, but does anyone know where I can check my tranmission level fluid on a 2001 Trooper? I can't find it under the hood or in the owners manual. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

If you do a search on these isuzu boards, there's a bunch of threads on this. On or about 1996, isuzu went to a "sealed" tranny on the 4L30E. All it means is there's no ATF dipstick. Crawl under the truck & locate the main/large tranny pan (large pan, furthest back). On that pan you will see two drain plugs/hex bolts- both facing downward. The higher up plug, recessed into the rear right corner of the pan is the ATF fill/level check plug. With the truck fully warmed & idling in neutral (park yeilds the same results) on a level surface, pull the fill plug. ATF should just dribble out. That means the level is OK! Have fun adding ATF if you need to. You have to pump it up in thru the fill / level check hole. Have fun .

Re: transmission fluid

Thanks a bunch, at least I don't feel like I was completely a moron for not finding that.
