Re: How can I make it faster?

I would if I could but I just bought the car and I don't think my dad would be to happy about me swapping engines. But is there any other stuff I can do? I know some stuff about cars but I'm hoping to learn more. If there's anything you can tell me like exhaust or intake or other small stuff I can do I would really appreciate it

Re: How can I make it faster?

Check around with the aftermarket suppliers, i dont recall much of anything that was made for that motor..it wasnt a hot performance car...most of the performance mods are for the 98 and up cars, and there are very few of them....any power building is probably going to have to be internal modifications $$$$$$....there are a couple of people that have put a turbo on the motor but im sure that wasnt cheap ethier.

The seatbelt has a lifetime warranty from the manafacturer..gov says they have to stand behind the safety equipment....go to the dealership and have them fix it for you..

Re: How can I make it faster?

if you are trying to change the bulb, look at the back of the light and you will see a ring with a wire harness in the middle...take the harness off and grab the ring and turn it to the left..the lamp will come out once you get the ring off..dont touch the new bulb with your fingers or it will burn out in a vary short time....if you are trying to take the lens off to change it, look behind the light and you will see the headlight body that the lamp is located in ...that whole assembly has to come out as one piece....im not sure if you can change the glass, or if you have to get a whole new assembly...some cars do , some dont...

Re: How can I make it faster?

I have a 95LX and I had the cam set up 2 degrees and a racing clutch installed and the linkage set up as far as it would go without buying new linkage(to give it faster shift points) and had a flowmaster exuast system put on with no resanator and a gutted cat. and got an edlebrock intake with venom fule rail and injectors. and I now can out run crx and civics(none turbo or nitros) and I've out ran one 305 camaro but I think that was because that dude just couldn't drive(just some suggestions)

Re: How can I make it faster?

There's a ton of stuff you can do to a 1.9 Escort, your just not gonna find much aftermarket parts. Go to www.escortracing.com and look around the chat room.

There's: headers, UDP, chip's, clutch's, turbo's, N20, intake's, exhasust systems, cams, motor swaps, throttle body's, body kit's, lowering springs, coil overs...the list goes on, you just need to find them.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but your clutch, fuel rail and injectors did'nt make you any faster. The stock injector can support about 120hp. The stock fuel rail is good to about 250hp. Adding fuel with out adding air does not increase power.

A gutted cat and aftermarket muffer only adds about 5hp, unless you have a header than it could be around 8-10hp total.

A aftermarket clutch in only really needed at around the 130hp mark, even then I know of ppl to use the stock one at 180hp.

Your cam and intake proby made the most difference. The cam could add 10-15 hp, and intake/cone filter adds about 3-5hp.

A stock 91-96 1.9 lx (5 speed) puts down about 79-80 wheel hp, with a cam, intake and muffler your probly at about 95whp.

Re: Re: Re: How can I make it faster?

well, the first suggestion was a good one, the motor. I have the 1.8 maxda in my gt and it puts out 127hp stock. a thing you could get for under $200 in a k+n air filter, I felt the increase in power. more air will make it faster, but you wont just start winning races. I haev a good web site you might want to check out, deals with a few cars directly and the escort is one of them. intakes exhausts, tons of shit.....www.corksport.com
