Question To buy, or not to buy?

I have a chance to buy a 1992 Chevy Blazer for cheep! The only problem is that it needs some work (theres always a catch). The engen was replace not too long ago and when it was put back together the rocker arms were overtightened. So, it didn't run very well or long that way. The push rods were replaced because of the problem. Now, the engen will start, run for a while, get rough, puff smoke, and die. All this info is what I have heard, I have not made it out to look at it during the day and listen to it myself YET. Any ideas as to what might cause these symptoms? Also, Anything I should look for or listen for spacificly when I do go look and listen to it?

Spacifics:

1992
S10 Blazer
4 Door
4x4
Automatic
Aprox. 130k
Carberated V6

Thanks,
Jason

Yes, The current owner is a friend of my Moms. I spoke with him yesterday and the Blazer has been sitting for about a year now. If I'm interested he will let me take it home and tear into it to get a better idea of what is going on with it before I make the decision to buy it. If I do decide to buy it he is only asking $500.
