Cheap interior upgrade

Any one out there want to jazz up there interior and only spend about 10 bucks in the process? Here is the easiest way. Go to your local hardware store pick up a can of spray paint that matches your cars color, a can of clearcoat, and finally a few sheets of 600 grit wet and dry sand paper. Next pull your air conditioning vents out, you can do this to other interior parts as well (face guard around cd player, defrost vents, door cranks, whatever knock yourself out) Then disasemble the vents completely, everthing! Soak all of your parts in a sink of hot soapy water for about an hour or so. Next sand the texture of of the vent faces, dont worry about the interior parts of the vents dont color then they wont look good and your vents wont work right either. Sand the vents down and let dry. Next spray the vent faces with the paint with about 5 good light coats. Next spray the vents with a couple of coats of clearcoat, and viola! You have a custom look in your car for around ten bucks! Make sure you give the vents at least 24 hours to dry so that they will assemble properly. You can customize your once plain interior without buying 400 dollar seats, and not wasting your dough on carbon fiber inserts. I will post a a pic of my vents in a few days so everyone can see just how good they look. And if anyone has any questions or comments feel free to email me and ask anything, I would be glad to answer any questions any of you have.
Peace

I dunno about you, but I wouldnt really disassemble anything on my car. I have a fear of f*cking something up and then have it look like shit. Oh well, looks fine to me anyway.

A friend of mine and I did that exact same thing to his Camaro (Yellow Chrome is the color of the car). Surprisingly, it looks excellent. Because we didn't go all out it isn't ghetto looking, and since then he's gotten a yellow momo shift boot, which matches very well.

VERY good tip. The key though, is in the gloss.

I recently did something similar (the interior of my car is immaculate, and in amazing shape) with the exterior mirrors. The housing was flat black plastic, and stuck out like a sore thumb on the shiny black paint. So, I detached them, scuffed them up, and hit them with a spray bomb. Then, because they were only semi-glossy, I took some model gloss and gave them 2 coats. Now, they look like they have a clearcoat on them similar to the car's body, and blend in perfectly :).

That's what I did in my car. I spent about 7 dollars, but I didn't use the clear coat. And it looks really good, especially for 7 dollars. :)

My friends from work did that to their stupid accord. I hate hondas. But yea it was pretty sick lookin. especialy for what you pay for it. A nice car only takes time. It's true. I drive an 86 jetta I bought for 200 bones and it's got some good power only took time to pass emisions. Anyways. yea it work good. Dub for life

I pretty much did the same thing, except a friend who has a paint gun and compressor did the painting for me.

I think my honda is pretty respectable... but thats because I'm not a ricer. And in referance to j00r sig... my honda sharez a garage wit an '99 M3, an '00 M5 and a '98 or '99 (i dont remember :))911 and they all get along pretty well. But I respect all german carz... as well as hondas..
I think all importz should get along against thoz nasty domestics ;)

:finger: merry christmas all! :D

Why do the wheels look photoshoped. The pic quality is kinda whack or those are things that aren't on ur real car.

The spray painting sounds like good stuff. But i've seen too many people go over bored with it taste is the key to that from what i've seen. I was gonna try it on my car but i'm gonna buy and used set of vents so if i screw up i still have a good set.

One of my buddies did that with crome illusions paint and it looks slick, but the paint wore off like nothing else. I'd be interested to know how well it wears with you guys.

Ive been wanting to do this for a while now, and i think im actually going to. One questions though, what kind of clear-coat should i use? I have seen several levels of gloss, and i dont know what kind i should use.

I did this exact thing on my dash vents and speaker grills on my Sentra. I chose a dk blue color, and took my time. It turned out great.

My advice would be to take your time. Do not rush any step. And make sure that you do lots of light coats of paint. Heavy coats will not turn out as nicely.

I did this as well, but having my car a custom color that definatly isn't in Home Depot was a bit of a hinderance. I ended up taking a photo of my cara nd giving it to one of the high end paint stores in town. The made me a great paint and gave it to me in a bucket and a spray can, so I could spray the big stuff and do little details as well. I don't have a clearcoat on it yet, as I still have another coat of the paint to go, but I'll be done with it soon, I hope.

My paint costs about 25 bucks for one pint can and one spray can. I've used 1 & 1/2 pints and 2 cans so far and still need another seveal coats on some. It's expesive but impressive considering my rare car color.

I'd be interested in how long this takes to wear off as mentioned before. And pictures? Anyone? What kinds of clear coat/paint did you use? The quality of the paint I'm going to assume has a difference? And how many light coats as "LOTS" was stated?

Use Krylon Fusion paint. Its around 4 or 5 for a can I think. I used black on the vents in my neon and they look sweet, without clearcoat too. But be sue to totally sand everything, I kinda rushed through it and it bubbled and spread in some areas...so thats not cool. But I got it fixed.
That paint is highly recommended. Consumer Reports gave it #1 for plastic paints too.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm willing to take the risk for that custome look. I'm in the middle of painting the interior of my neon, i still have to make a few touch ups but here is my car so far. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/398228

it won't wear if you sand it down well enough, and use a decent quality paint.

just did a half ass version of this (2 coats, no clearcoat) in my 88 blazer and it looked awesome. I go for more of a rustic/hic looking truck but the chrome paint on my vents goes along with the metalic trim so well!

Does anybody know how I can customize my 88 acura legend? I'm trying to figure out what performance parts I can add to it or any ways I could change the interior. I'm trying to take the leather seats of the back and add new ones, and also put racing seats, but I don't think they have mounts for this model. also I'm trying to figure how I can put a better looking bodykit, cause they have very, very, very few for a model that old

PLEASE HEEEEEEELP!!!!

I have an Acura Legend, its pretty beat up, but I decided I was gonna put some love into it, but I'm kinda lost where to start, so here is a list, plz help me.

How to paint dashboard?
How to install racing seats? is 88 after all
Can I install any new kind of gauges for it?
Changing interior carpet?
How to remove stains from carpets or seats?
What are the best products for cleaning?

Check my page out, Thanks a lot
