Angry 04 Passat Odometer Jump?

We've had this V6 GLX a little over a week and it spent today in the shop. We discovered that the odometer reads 4,100 miles. We drove it off the lot Jan. 31 with 1856 miles on it. Something is wrong because it is only 50 miles round trip to work. It would appear that we have driven across country but that just isn't the case.

As I expected, because the service dept. couldn't duplicate the problem and there are no warning codes, there is nothing they can do

Anyone else have any experience with this? Our next step is to call the VW customer service line tomorrow and see what they can do. We have already accounted for our miles over the past week and they don't even come close to 2,000.

Thanks,

Chris

Re: 04 Passat Odometer Jump?

You probably were looking at the trip odometer when you bought the car. We once thought we bought a car with 312 miles on it there got it home and hit the odometer button to find out it had nearly 500 miles on it. Dealer was clueless too, so they say. What happend?
