ses light on and off

My ses light was on for a while but i noticed no problems. I took it to the mechanic and he said he didn't have a right test equipt. but it was fine to drive. I drove it for a 2 months with the light on and it went off after burning half a tank of premium and a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Anyone have any ideas what was wrong? Did I fix it? Did I burn the light out? (doubt it)

Also my exaust smells really stong like gas and every once in a while it has a little of that egg smell to it. What's with that

It's a 2000 GT w/ 50,000mi.

Re: ses light on and off

Do you have AutoZones where u live???

They scan the computer for free. Sounds like a bad plugs, especially if your smellling gas. plug isnt firing and burning all the fuel.

Sounds like your car is having a bad month

Re: ses light on and off

i would have to agree with the bad plugs/ for this reason some plugs for who knows what reason dont seem to like injector cleaners, this has happend to a few peoples cars that i know and i was told this by a shop, the cleaners manage to foul out plugs somehow i guess

I think that is normal. I cant remember how my car smelled before the cam, but now it always smells like gas on startups.

Do you see a problem here? First you take your car to a shop where they have nothng to diagnois your car yet they have enough knowledge to say you can drive your car! What can they possibly use to state your car is safe to drive if they don't know whats wrong or have the tools to figure it out. Its not like its a brand new model the car is 4 model years old! Dude find a new shop to deal with!

Re: ses light on and off

The shop that checked my car said that it was a problem in the evaporation system (whetever that means) but they said only the dealer had the equiptment to pin point it. auto zone told me the same thing. I'm wasn't about to pay a dealer $65 to scan it. The light went out anyways, i just really wonder what the hell was wrong

Re: ses light on and off

Your egg smell is the catalytic converter in the exhaust.
