Question booster problem??

I have a question that I hope I can get some help on. I bought my 2000 gtp a couple weeks ago and it has 113000 miles on it. It ran fine except when I bought it it had the trac off light on. Figured I would find out what the problem was soon but today I was on the highway and when I gave it gas the booster sputtered and made a clunking sound. Now when I speed up it hesitates when the booster goes to kick in and loses power. Regular acceleration is fine. SES light came on but went off and hasn't come on again. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so can I get some insight what this might be. I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: booster problem?

sounds like a misfire

There should be a code set since the ses light came on. Take the car to autozone and have then scan the car and see what code the car threw

Also,

If "booster" = supercharger then try this. Take off the supercharger belt and go for a drive. Does it do the same sputter and clunk noise????

Re: booster problem?

Hey thanks I am going to autozone tomorrow to check it out. I have no warranty because I bought it outright and pray that it is not the supercharger(booster is supercharger...sorry.) So hopefully it is something simple...once again thanks

Re: booster problem?

Cool, when u get back from AZ post the results.

Try removing the supercharger belt too, see if any noises you've been hearing go away. You can drive the car w/out the supercharger belt on, it's perfeclty safe. The car will just feel alot slower.

Re: booster problem?

If the test Ripn12s is telling you comes fine, then set aside 1500 to get a new SC. If you have patience is a bolt on and you can do it, is important to find out what TC's you will get from the computer history

Re: booster problem?

1500 - you are on drugs tonight arent u

Let us know what you find out w/ the tests and scans and we can go from there.

If something is wrong with the blower then there are a few different things that could be wrong.

Re: booster problem?

Well, went to autozone. They could not read codes because there must be an electrical problem with my plugin. Can this be caused from someone who owned the car before not knowing how to connect or disconnect a radio?? My car goes in tomorrow and hopefully this problem is just electrical or plugs. Another quick question...if the ses light just blinks and goes off will a code still show? Thanks for any input so far. What a headache.

Re: booster problem?

That sucks.

I think it will still show a code. I think if the light is triggered then a code is stored.

Re: booster problem?

Hey its me again... got a couple questions for anyone who can help. I finally got a code. (I could not get a code because the ciggarette lighter fuse was blown...if that is blown you won't get power to read codes) Well anyway the code is P0128. Went to autozone and they told me it was a coolant temperature censor and possibly a temperature switch. Could it be anything else and would this problem cause my car to studder and want to stall when I give it some gas at around 45 and above?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
