use reg spray paint to fix scratch??

i recently ran my prelude off the road and into a few saplings :-(

anyways, i got some bad scratches on the front. i took it to Honda's body shop down here, they said i needed to paint the whole bumper ($500), i took it to another body shop, they said i had to paint the bumper too ($200). when the guy saw my sad expression, he suggested i go to a Sherwin Williams paint center, and have them create a can of spray paint to match my car's color (San Marino Red) and do it myself...

i'm a lil scepticle about this...any tips? and would i just spray the new paint over the scratch, or would i have to sand and all that other stuff?

It's hard to say without seeing it. For the best results the area should be sanded & painted. Contact a air bruch touch up company from your area, it wont be body shop quality but will be lots cheaper.

I've found permanent markers blend better than touch-up paint in most cases, or at least makes it look less obvious(small areas). Too bad it only last a short time.

ive got some knocks on my rear bumper as soon the weather brightens up here ill undertake the new spraying of the whole damn thing. off comes the paint on with the primer 1, 2, 3 coats of paint and to finish it off a coat or two of clear laquer. if you know a friend with a spraygun/compressor and have the nerve you can do the same. paint can be ordered everywhere to match the color of your car. dont skimp on that thou. you dont want the bumper looking a different color.
