Question check engine code

My check engine light is on and I retrieved code 214 (cylinder identification circuit failure). My car is a '94 1.9L. What components are part of this circuit and how might I go about troubleshooting it?
My best guess is the crankshaft position sensor is a good starting point, but if it was bad I would think the engine would not even be running. There are no driveability problems with the car, but the light is on. I have not noticed a drop in mileage, but will see when I fill up next.
How might I go about testing the crank or cam sensors, or whatever other parts are in this circuit?

Thanks!

Re: check engine code

I just used a code reader... something like $20 at Auto Zone.
If you have a check engine light on go get one of these... it comes with a book that will tell you how to use it, tells you what the codes mean, etc.
You don't NEED a code reader... there is a way to use a jumper wire on the EEC and count flashes on the dashboard, but it is more hassle.
