84 Scottsdale 4x4

I want to buy a 1984 Scottsdale 4x4 with a 305. Runs great, problem is, when going down the road at about 85mph it shakes really bad. It has about 124,000 miles on it and everything seems to work good. I would appreciate some responses that might save me some money down the road. Coult this be U-Joints. Motor Mount or any other suggestions?

It only shakes at 85mph! I dont think I would be to concerened. Its probably just the tires. Most older vehicles, especially with old tires shake at high speed. If you have the tires balanced, have them check for a bent wheel.

In the mean time, just keep it under 85mph and you should be ok! LoL!

I'm sorry, I didnt notice that I put 85 mph, I was meaning 65. And it more than just a vibration. It shakes when you are about 65 and then when you kick down and accelerate it stops. I've been told to look at motor mounts, wheel alignment, and U-Joints. Any other suggestions????

Re: 84 Scottsdale 4x4

check your shocks, see if they are leaking oil down the side from where the piston goes up and down. or take it to a frontend shop and ask for an estimate then fix it yourself and take it back to them for a frontend alignment.
