this unit lacks power and smokes real bad on hills any help or any hope

check air filter and fuel filter. possibly plugged exhaust - they put catylitic converters on those trucks and they can plug.

Make sure you are building boost.

Do you have a gauge? Most common problems are vacuum pumps and wastegate solenoids.
