Power Steering pump

Hey all

I have a 1998 Grand Prix, 3.8L V6, with about 108k on it. Never had a serious problem with it....until now.

I am guessing my power steering pump is going out. There is a strong vibration in the wheel moving from right to left, even while in Park. No screeching sound (yet?), but a distinct high pitched hum is emerging recently. Its not the fluids, so it must be the pump.

How hard is this pump to replace on my own? I see that it is about $125.00 (with exchange), but I really can't afford a mechanic.

Any ideas on what to do??

Thank you all in advance,

Lee
