2000 Silverado alarm problems
Every time I use my remote to lock my doors or set the alarm, within minutes, or sometimes even seconds, the alarm will start sounding. I have to manually lock my doors to keep this from happening. I also have to use my dome light override button, because the dome light will turn on by itself while Im driving. Along with that, at the same time the doors will attempt to lock themselves. Where do I begin trouble shooting or is there A way to just reset the system?

I'd first check the door switches. If the lights are comming on when you drive, it's gotta be that or the wires that hook to them are shorting out.

It looks like we found the problem. I just needed to reprogram the alarm. Seems to work fine now.

Re: 2000 Silverado alarm problems
Glad you got it fixed. Not sure what you had to do though?

Re: 2000 Silverado alarm problems
Thought we had it fixed but it's doing it again so I'm open for suggestions again.

Re: 2000 Silverado alarm problems
I have a 2000 Silverado that does the same thing....sometimes. Once in a while it will work fine, the next time you lock or unlock the doors, the alarm goes off.
It has an aftermarket keyless system that I installed myself. I have installed a bunch of these on the basically same truck, with no problem.
I don't know what is up with THIS truck!

Did you tap into the disarm wire? It's the light green wire in the purple plug of the BCM. That's if you have a 1/2 ton truck. Even if your truck didn't come with keyless, it still can have an alarm. Also, some aftermarket keyless systems have it where if you hold the lock button down, it will set off the panic alarm.
