Bought a new Camry and it pulls to the left. The dealership moved the tires around, checked the alignment, and indicate that there is nothing else they can do. Will not switch the car.

any thoughts on what might be causing it?

First off..your dealership sucks..id call toyota on that one..since this is a brand new car I would go to another dealership or contact toyota of america at 800-331-4331. id turn this car back in if they did this to me and go somewhere else...you might have 30 days to return the car depending on the state that you are in...check into this...dont get a lemon or defect from the factory and get stuck with it..

Agreed. Brand new cars under warranty should be fixed and looked into at NO COST to you.

Reasons why it might be pulling to another direction could be:

1. Deflated tires -- happened to me once, left front tire was bit deflated than the right so it was pulling to the left.
2. Alignment

The car may also have a sticking brake caliper causing one side of the brakes to be on all the time...regardless the dealer need to make this right...

This has apparently been an issue on many Camry/Solara's.They just came out with a fix to rotate the spring insulater.

my moms new solara does that too. so joe, they need to rotate the spring insulator? im fairly knowledgable with cars, so are u talking about the rubber bushing type thing on top of the spring? and is the left or right one they need to rotate. so far my parents dealership hasnt fixed it and im about to call them to let them know.

It is the bushing on top of the spring and apparently both sides are repositioned and the vehicle is re-aligned.

Check the tire balance. It can cause pull.

But anyway, it shouldn't happen on a new car. If the dealer told you there is nothing they can do to fix it, tell them there is a lot that you can do and ask them if they are sure what they said before you go ahead. Don't waste your time if the dealer is stupid. Call Toyota directly and file a complaint and ask for another car.

Does this only happen when you put your foot firmly/all the way down on the gas? If so, this is torque steer. It is perfectly normal on all FWD cars, and some cars are more drastic then others. I have a 2004 Rav4 FWD and it does the same thing, just not quite a drastic as you describe.

this is a very common problem for camrys. especaly the 2003/4's i was on a annother forum (i forgot the address) with over 150 post on just this problem. the dealers ships wont help and untill recently toyota would help either, but now i think there is a recall for 2003/4 to fix it. it replaces or fixes the spring insulater.

my problem is with a 91 it drasticly steers to the left only when i accelerate, it doesn't matter how much gas i give it.

Your Vehicle doesn't pull it drifts! A pull is when u yet go of the wheel and the car goes into the next lane very very quick! yours takes a few seconds to do this right? joeharper needs to cill on the lemon law? go buy a ford then so that your air fliter can blow up!HAHAHA :cwm27: :cwm27: :cwm27:

My 2004 Camry also pulls to the left and this is very dangerous. I have had it serviced a total of 6 times and will be going back tomorrow. They have performed everything in the TSB and it still pulls.

well i dont know how trannys work exactly but my geuss would be that one side of the transaxle is spinning faster than the other...

My new Camry does the same thing - the dealer first realigned it = which did not help and has been insisting there is nothing wrong - the car is simply following the road crown blah blah blah - yet when Toyota came out with the TSA the dealer applied it - it has helped some but the car is still too much work to drive. The TSB is ST002-04 and applies to the 04 Solara, Camry and Avalon - it was issued on Feb. 4, 2004. It instructs service to rotate the upper spring seat and if it still pulls to increase the right front camber and decrease the left frong camber. The Toyota Owners Club website has a lot or entries on this problem and in one arbitration case Toyota argued that it is specifically designed to "drift" - give me a break! I refused to sign the arbitration agreement when I bought the car and am so glad about that! The MSN group has the TSB in a file cabinet - but you have to sign up as a user to get it - the dealer might give it to you as well. To get to the MSN group type in toyota alignment problems in yahoo and it should pop up.

I have a 2004 SE and if I let go of the steering wheel the car goes left also. Getting tired of fighting the wheel all the time.

Ahhhhh, I thought it was just my car. My 2000 Camry LE has pulled to the left and vibrated at any speed over 50mph since I bought it used. I've bought 4 new tires, had 4 wheel alignment twice and the problem remains. I don't even get half as many miles out of tires as they're waranteed for. (The tire dealer says it's not their fault--that my car has a "funky" suspension) Toyota just says it's the crown of the road that does it. Funny, the other cars I drive don't have this problem of pulling to the left. And I don't see how a crown of the road can cause the tires to feel out of balance, too.

I went ot the Toyota's Owners Club website listed above and see this is a problem, especially with the newer models. I went to the NHTSA site (www.nhtsa.com) and see that quite a few customer complaints for this problem have been filed for my year Camry.

My car was a "Certified Used Car" with the extended warantee that's still in effect.. Does anyone know if this should be covered under that.

My new Camry Solara pulls to the left as well. When I am on the left side of a road, it is a bit of work to hold the vehicle straight. I brought it in today and I was told they made it that way on purpose. yeah right! I also have found that the steering wheel lock is hard to engage after I pull the key out. I have to rotate the wheel almost 180 degrees to make it click in. then it is a bitch to start the car as I have to jiggle the wheel back and forth hard to allow my key to turn. My outside temperature gage went blank while I was driving once as well.

Otherwise it is a very quiet and smooth car to drive. The stereo is awesome and the mileage on the 3.3 V6 is great. Too bad for the pulling to the left problem. Maybe it will get recalled?
