I really like the look of this GMC front end, but I'm not sure what years were like this. I also have a feeling that it only came on SL models and not SLT or SLE, could be wrong though. Anybody got an idea?

Looks like a 3500 series, somewhere early 90's Probably a special order fire/police/military model.

It looks like an 88-94 W/T front w/deluxe bumpers.

i would say, judging by the molded mirror housings, and the rounded shape of the dash, it is 95 or maybe 96. Most trucks newer than that came with the molded grilles as well

I wasn't paying attention to details, the rounded dash and moulded mirrors are '95-up, but the grille is the same grille used on the W/Ts (worktrucks). The bumper is 3/4 ton and 1 ton issue with the large square cut-outs on both sides of the license plate.

the cut outs means it has a diesel in it those go on any model

I still like that look a lot. I need a truck like that with a 6.5 turbo diesel, 4x4, crew cab (but not dually).
