Replace 4AF with 4AFE Longblock

My daughters 88 corolla (carbd) 4af has 200k on it and is worn out. I can get a 90 4AFE complete for $225 with 88k on it. Will the manifolds/fuel pump from a 4af bolt right onto a 4afe?
Also, is it really required to remove the entire automatic transaxle with the engine, as the book suggests?

Thank you, Bob

Re: Replace 4AF with 4AFE Longblock

Why bother, except for reliability issues? Rebuild your current engine or swap a 4AGE engine in are your 2 only logical options.
