boxster vs corvette

So what do you guys think of boxster S vs the new corvette? There will be a powered top convertible version out soon. The 2 vehicles cost about the same in the US and the corvette is obviously much faster and should be cheaper to maintain... Will the porsche name be worth it?

I would take a Z06 vette over the boxster if you want to spend that kind of money on new ones. The power is great in the vette, and a lot is said for the Corvette name too. I wouldn't get the boxster just cause it's a Porsche, I would get it cause its a nice car. And yes the vette would have cheaper maint...and you can actually do maint. yourself.

Re: boxster vs corvette

The Porsche name dosen't mean jack if you campare the cars without a bias. Porsche's name in endurance racing is without question, but to me, the new C6 beats the boxster S in every catergory, so if I had the money to pick, it's no contest.

Re: boxster vs corvette

exactly. If someone likes the boxster for its look and likes the drive, get it for that reason. Not because of who makes it. If I bought brand new I would kick myself for not getting a vette for that kind of money. Since I can't afford a brand new car I would be more than happy with what I get in a 99-00 S. I don't care if the boxster was made by yugo, I would still like it for the car more than saying I own a porsche.

Thanks for the reply, guys. I guess it's going to come down to the test drive... For now I'll keep trying to put some money in the bank... By the way do you know if the insurance is more expensive for boxster or corvette?

Re: boxster vs corvette

from what I can tell comparing an 01 vette to an 01 boxster S the S is about $150 cheaper every six months on count it is a slower car. The only category the Boxster S isn't cheaper is Uninsured motorist bodily injury. My rates between the two were between 100-125 a month for EVERYTHING and I am 27.
