1987 escort EXP timing belt -- help needed
Hi, folks!
I was given an 87 EXP a little while back. I'm planning on using it for a work/beater/dog car for a little while.
Today I began work on it to change the timing belt and water pump, as I want to know that the car I'm driving is reliable. I've never done a timing belt before, though I've assisted my dad a few times, and I figured this would be a good learning experience.
Well, I've done some learning, but I'm also stuck. :-P
I'm using a Haynes manual to guide me, and I've gotten to the point where I've locked the flywheel with a screwdriver, and I've gotten the crankshaft bolt out. In order to do this, I had to take the right side mount off and lower the engine a bit on a jack. Now that I've gotten the bolt out, though, I'm not sure how to get the crank pully off. The pully is very close to the frame/body, so I'm not sure how I could get a puller in there even if I had one.
If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I'd like to be able to get this done, but at this point I'm thinking of just slapping everything back together and driving it as-is or trying to sell it cheap. (any takers?)
I'm all ears! Thanks for your help!
