'96 Jetta Oil light/beeping wont stop!!Jigadeez 01-29-2004, 09:58 AM I have a 96 Jetta 2.0. with 105,000 miles. Have had the car for a year and the oil light has come on before but has turned off in a couple of min. Just recently started going off again so I went to get an oil change. Said something about condesation under oil cap.....and paid extra $8 to get something done including oil change. Went back the following day to have them check and the guy said that the sensor was unplugged. Plugged it in and drove off and it still beeps. NOW.....when I start the car and it hasnt warmed up yet and I drive it, its ok. When it warms up and the temp gauge is in the middle, I will be at a light and once I start to pull off or for any other reason that it goes over 20 rpms the oil light and beeping will start. While im driving (or if I put it in park) and press on the gas (found this out while angry) and it goes over 30 rpms it will stop. Slow down and then goes back up past 20 rpms it will do it again. Left the car on one day for half an hour and went to check on it and beeping and flashing didnt stop when in the past it usually does. Could anyone tell me what the problem could possibly be. I cant find anyone except the dealer to do a diagnostic check for $100 and wanted to wait and see if it went away on its own......HELP!!! ballantrae bob 01-29-2004, 04:50 PM Had the same problem on my "96.
