RS to WRX maby even STi
I have an 02 2.5 RS and I plan on upgrading the engine. Anything past changing the oil is going to be done by a pro so I dont screw it up, though I'd like to take an active intrest in the tweaking of my car. There is a auto shop here on base but I don't know how much i should trust them. I would like a turbo or possibly a twin turbo and all the engine mods needed to ensure that it won't blow up on me. I know there are lots of kits out there. I could go to any auto shop and have one installed but the sites won't really tell me if someone elses kit is better, so I hope that you could. I like the aps stealth front mounted intercooler. Does this rule out a twin turbo? I'm planning on building a sleeper. I don't think I'll take this car on the track, not yet at least. So its up to the type of turbo and engine mods to support the change. Thanks for any help.

Re: RS to WRX maby even STi
Did you read the FAQ?
As far as going RS to WRX, that's impossible without an engine swap, the RS is a 2.5 engine whereas the WRX is a 2.0

If you'd like to convert to STi or WRX there's more than just engine work. Don't forget suspension work and other vital things.

Re: RS to WRX maby even STi
Perhaps all of you are taking the thread title too literally. To the untrained eye an RS is a WRX w/o a turbo and an STi w/o a turbo plus engine mods. Please forgive me if I have offended you. It is foolish to ask for knowledge without accepting your ignorance. This I have, and this I ask for your help in changing.
Ok so lets go indepth, I just have a general idea of what I want the car to do. I want to keep the stock apperance so no hood scoop or rear spoiler. This would require a front mounted intercooler and question 1 Can a front mounted intercooler support twin turbos in the range to beat an STi? From what I hear turbos spell the eventual death of an engine, and are far less successful, without more modifications. Pistons, cams, chips and lots of other bits and pieces that I have no idea where to put. Coming around to question 2 Whats the best turbo kit, did you get one and was it good or bad? All the research in the world can't beat some good first hand experence. On this same note I may also need suspension(though I like a smooth ride), a clutch and "other vital things." So questions 3, 4 and a 1/2 What are the best in suspensions, clutches and what else am I forgeting? Please help.

Re: RS to WRX maby even STi
I think your arrogance far outweighs any ignorance I displayed.
Now like I said n00b, there is a FAQ that has a lot of information in it, that information is gleaned from the first hand experience of members here.
What else are you forgetting?
You're forgetting to be polite to the very people you're asking for help.

Lisen I don't want to get into a flame war with you. I don't see how I was being arrogant though. I read the FAQ, it didn't answer any of my questions. I was serious in the first part of my last. "Please forgive me if I have offended you. It is foolish to ask for knowledge without accepting your ignorance. This I have (refering to me accepting my ignorance) , and this I ask for your help in changing." None of that was sarcastic, and it still applys. It seems that I did offend you and I am sorry. Once again I ask, Please help. Thank you.

Yes you can use a FMIC with a twin turbo. The way that would be set up most likely is the two turbos would go into a "Y" connector pipe, then into the intercooler as one pipe. Then out the other end of the intercooler and to the throttle body as one pipe. Unless you wanted to get crazy with it and build separate intake manifolds for each "side" of the engine, then oyu would be better off with 2 smaller intercoolers.
If you had read the FAQ thouroughly, you would have seen the link to www.forcedairtech.com Their Stage 4 kit is a twin turbo kit. You will need a hood scoop to use that kit. I don't know of any other mass produced twin turbo kits.
I don't really know how to answer the rest of it looks like you just need to search and read up more and do more reasearch.

Mother Angelica? Well it seems god is the only one who understands what I'm saying. Once again I must laugh even though you are "dish"ing me. I know the Impreza doesn't have a twin turbo I'm planning on adding one.

Y connectors eh? It's crazy enough to work. I read the faq very throughly and I also mentioned in my earlier posts that a hood scoop won't work since I'm making a sleeper. I also said that the internet won't tell you whos stuff is better so I must ask those who have tried the stuff out, this is my research. Thank you very much though, you have been most helpful, without insulting me much. Now it's down to what parts to buy, I'll keep it simple.
1 Who makes the best turbos?
2 Who makes the best engine upgrade kits?
3 Who makes the best equipment for suspensions?
4 Who makes the best clutches?
If you don't have an answer, PLEASE don't post in this thread THANK YOU.

Re: RS to WRX maby even STi
Crap, I just typed up a long reply for you giving you ideas on what to do, then I saw your "if you don't have an answer don't reply" line and decided against helping you.
This is a public message board and everyone is free to reply, YOU don't have the right to dictate who may and may not post in a thread.
Thanks for the compliment Alldar, I really think Idelaysional has better knowledge than I do though.

Nah... you have your areas, I have mine. Turboing a 2.5 is just one of the things I've put a lot of thought and research into
