building a pinto turbo 2 litre
using a .030 over 2 litre, i intend on building a stout streetable turbo unit with bhp & torque to rival any std. wrx or evo ?...will be using a t3 unit blowing thru a 390cfm 4 barrel holley on a dual plane manifold. into a vizard spec.(stg.3) ported head(1.78" inlets and 1.5" exhausts), a mild 270 degree cam, a mallory dual point dizzy, msd 6al ignition, 8.5 mm wires, fabricated intercooler using two lancer turbo cores welded together, boost control via adjustable blow off valve and 16 ps.i boost sprin in wastegate.all crossover pipes, intercooler piping and exhaust manifold will be fabricated to suit. really trying to keep whole buildup simple and as unelectronic as possible for now to prove what an old dog like pinto can do. hoping to get at least 250 bhp/ 260 lbs.ft.torque with rpm's under 7000. will use an uprated ap clutch and std.type 9 sierra 5 speed to a cortina axle with 3.45 cwp for now.(3.77 and 3.9 & 4.4 also available.). looking for following #'s....0-60 mph - 5.6 /6 secs., 0-100 mph - 12.5 - 13secs., 0 - 125 mph. - 16.5 - 17 secs., 1/4 mile in low 13's at 105/108 mph and a top end of at least 135 mph. car is expected to be about 2650 lbs with driver and fluids. are my expectations in line and if not what can i expect from expertise of anyone who has tried it before to a similar spec? email haydn1399@hotmail.com with any info please. grateful for any help!!

Re: building a pinto turbo 2 litre
Haven't you heard the old saying "It takes a Chevy guy to tune a Ford". Or was it "A chevy guy to make a fast Ford", I forgot.
Oh well, you know what I mean.
I remember now. "It takes a Chevy engine to make a Ford fast". That's the one.

Why waste your money trying to turbo the 2.0 and rebuild it when you can pull a 2.3T out of a thunderbird turbo coupe or a merkur or an SVO (but if you found an SVO i'd kill you if you tore it apart), swap it in, up the boost, build an exhaust for it, and have 275+ horsepower, with fuel injection reliability and power. Not to mention the 2.3T block will take 500+ horsepower easily in stock form, which would take some new rods/pistons in the 2.0.

Re: building a pinto turbo 2 litre
I didn't mean anything about the Chevy/Ford joke. Hope I didn't make any enemies.
Speaking of the SVO, a good friend of mine had one of those, or at least almost a complete one. Someone stripped the turbo but left everything else. He sold the car super cheap one day. I could have picked it up for a hundred bucks if I would have known.
