Unhappy Low idle on 2003 CRV EX?

My 2003 EX CRV engine runs slightly rough when sitting in traffic (in Drive), or just idling in Park.

Also , it rolls backward when idling (in Drive)on a slope or hill.

I have 11000 miles on it and have the problem since I purchased the car.

No hills where I live in Florida , just noticed that part of the problem on a trip up North.

The Tach reads about 450-500 rpm at idle in Park.

Is this too low?

Is a dealer visit necessary?

Thanks.

Rough Idle

That does seem a little low. The RPM's should be about 800+/- while you are idling. You mentioned that you took the car on it's first road trip; was the climate much colder then you usually drive in? Colder air is harder to burn which might be why you were idling rough.

As for roll-back, well that is normal depending on the grade of the hill. It's really not hard to exceed the clutch work of your automatic transmission.

The climate at the time was warm,August in Lake Geaorge N.Y.There area up there is hilly. That's probably why I get rollback.
Can I increse th idle , or do I take it into the dealer?
I assume that would be covered under the new car warranty.

You might want to bring it into a deal just for the sake of argument.
