passenger climate control knobAuror_AH 01-19-2004, 07:45 PM my passenger climate control knob keeps popping off and its driving me crazy the knob its lf is still in good condition nothing broken or cracked but i am afraid one of these times it's going to fall off and out of the car...any quick fixes? i was thinking maybe glue but honesty i have played enough with it to see if that would prevent it from turning... Marc_Aurora_2001 01-19-2004, 08:24 PM It would be a good idea to get another one. The one that you have now might have cracked or warped in a very small way, and that's causing it to fall off. _____________ GM!!! SAVE OLDS!!! dsatt12 01-19-2004, 10:25 PM Mine did that too sometimes. There is nothing wrong with mine to the visible eye. I put a tiny amount of glue in the socket and put it back on. Heck, even a jot of a heavy grease or weatherstrip slicone would give it some holding power without permanently locking it down if you're worried about it. Indy8 01-20-2004, 02:28 AM A tiny dot of RTV silicone sealant will hold it, yet yield under pressure if you need to remove it. dmorlow 02-07-2004, 11:06 PM It will probably only cost you $10 or $15 for a new one from the dealer. The knob fell off my fan speed control and I bought a new one for that. It was $15. I would rather not "jimmy rig" anything on my car. At least not to save $15. If it was $500, then i would jimmy rig it. But not to save $15. Indy8 02-08-2004, 02:41 AM I feel that way too, problem is the new ones don't necessarily stay on either. Auror_AH 02-10-2004, 01:07 PM Well thanks everyone I took the advice in ordering a new knob. At $16.00 it was worth it. so hopefully this one won't give me problems... if so it's time for glue... LoL Auror_AH 02-13-2004, 01:08 PM Well I got the knob but now I am embarassed to say I don't know how to put it on, It has a little clear plastic thing on the bottom and I was unsure if that came off or not, It will not go completely on it's little post and I didn't want to force it... anyone had to replace there climate control knob with a brand new one? dmorlow 02-13-2004, 03:45 PM When I replaced the knob that was for the fan control on the dash, there was a plastic piece on the bottom that I wasn't sure if it was suppose to be there or not. I pulled mine off and it snapped on perfect. I would just pull that plastic piece out. dsatt12 02-13-2004, 10:37 PM It has a little clear plastic thing on the bottom and I was unsure if that came off or not Heh, I guess everybody's into nipple shields these days...
