Toyota Tacoma E brake lighthunt11er 01-19-2004, 05:52 PM I cant get my E brake light to go off, i bled the brakes and nothing happened. The brake still works great but the light wont go off. Anybody got any suggestions? thanks 2000 tacoma 4wd v6 hunt11er 01-19-2004, 10:55 PM Does anybody know where i can get wheel spacers for my 4wd tacoma? NOT coilspacers. gambit.45 01-21-2004, 05:11 PM I had the same problema and took it in to the dealer and all they told me they did was to put a little more brake fluid in the resevoir. It might not solve your problem but it's a good idea to check. I noticed when they told me this that they filled it a little over the maximum line (but not much over). Good luck! hunt11er 01-21-2004, 11:50 PM Thanks for the advise, i refilled the brake fluid to the top, because i recently found my brake was leaking, so i tightened that and it stopped leaking. Odly the light is still on, even though the leak is gone. I guess ill have to take it to the toyota dealer eventually.... Gusto222 01-22-2004, 09:15 PM i have tha same prob-- my ebarke lite has been on for like 6/7months... thun 02-02-2004, 03:53 PM same problem here. not sure of any solution other than jiggling the handle, which works for me. Taco99 02-02-2004, 09:56 PM Refill your brake fluid under the hood to the maximum line. That should keep the light from staying on. VernonSH 02-02-2004, 10:39 PM Just a long shot, but do you have ABS brakes. If you do, a circuit in the ABS system could be malfunctioning. Usually it's because the brake fluid gets too low because the pads are worn. But I guess the Toyota Dealer already checked that. THe fluid level sensor in the brake resevoir could be malfunctioning. I know on my automatic, the stupid e-brake lever isn't always pushed in and the brake light will stay on even though the lever has been released. Just my $.02 :) nickbo 02-04-2004, 07:21 PM I had the same problem in my 99. I had to crawl underneath the steering colum to get to the real problem. which happens mostly when it is cold. well i looked down there and this is what i saw. if you look at the end of the handle that is coming in from the engine compartment. you will find out that the cable doesn't always roll itself back into where it is supposed to go, but in fact pushes itself out of a small slit just by the switch that turns that light on and off. just take your key and guide it back in there. if that doesn't work then try the fluid. Longbeards 02-12-2004, 11:37 AM A simple problem I had that was related, had nothing to do with fluid. It was just the cable binding up in its sleeve under the truck. The brake wasn't on, just the light. I fixed it by pulling the cable out as far as I could and putting a little grease on it (under the steering collum and in spots along the frame).
