What's the worse that could happen if I kept a few parts primered and drove around with my truck? I just bought it and need to change a couple of panels.
I'm not talking about sunny, shiny weather. I'm talking about Quebec roads.. Snow, Rain and salkt on the road. Thanks for any info or information.
That depends on how long you're planning on keeping it that way. Until spring? You'll probably have to strip the panel down & repaint it.
Where abouts are you in Que.? I know that near the west island they salt the roads down quite a bit. It wreaks havoc on my cars

I plan on keeping the parts primered until I can afford to sand and re-do all of the other panels that require some attention. There's some rust to work on and some dents to fix.
And I'm in Gatineau, which is about 10mins drive from Ottawa.
Try a spray can of paint, any kind of enamel and just give the panel a quick coat. It does not have to look good, just to seal the surface.
When it comes time to paint, just sand it off and paint. It will result in less work than if you had to get rid of rust.

So, spraying an Enamel based primer would, basically, seal off the rust? And will the primer peel/tear off after driving with it for a while or will it endure the road conditions? I know that I'll have to re-sand and primer then when I'll be ready to paint but I don't want to damage the parts even more until then.
I agree with magicrat .It's probably the best thing you can do for now. What primer will do is actually hold moisture. Spraying it with some paint will seal it off more effectively than just leaving it as is.
