Youve all got it wrong holden was its own car company up until recently when they were bought out by GMC now they still make cars in australia and are very popular they dominate the market over here and GMC are trying to take them over seas yet they still havent taken off so GMC is trying to rebadge the monaro as a pontiac GTO, the monaro was recently re-realesed after the original monaro back in the seventys basicly the same as what ford did with the GT

holden and GM "merged" in Australia a LONG time ago, not recently.
recently Holden started exporting their cars, the commodore actually sold quite well over seas with the exception of the US where GM said they would not sell it. the mmonaro is essentially a 2 door commodore variant, the GTO is a monaro with different spoilers and badging, oh and the steering on the left. It only comes with a V8.
the V-6 is the ecotec buick until later this year when the Isuzu "global" v-6 will take over. the V-8's are Chevy LS1's which are tuned/de-tuned for around 255 to 300KW (340 - 400hp) depending on variant. manual gears are through a BW T5 or a Getrag 6spd (could have gone to T6 not sure) not bad for a family car huh?
the v-6 will also be used ina range of other cars by GM worldwide, including Alfa and Saab.
REALLY the commodore should have been sold in the states in the place of the chevy lumina (which it was badged as in the middle east) because the chassis is superior and front rear is just better for a car that size!
basically Ford are just starting to catch up again with the new Falcon BA.

Holden's haven't made their own engines in over 15 years. They are fuckin golf carts and Ford Australia dominate the market in AUSTRALIA.. For you americans notice there is only 1 "i" in Australia.
As for Ford (Australia) most to all parts are made in Australia.. With a huge production line in Adelaide, SA.
Also, TRD2000.. I would also like to point out Ford came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the V8 Supercars, either way we have better cars and drivers.

actually conlad your wrong. Holden DO manufacture their own engines, along with a LOT of engines for export. in 2004 holden manufactured 257,000 engines, 147,000 for export. many of the export engines are used overseas in Saab, Alpha Romeo, Vaxhal.
compare this to the 167,000 vehicles manufactured by holden australia (SOME of which have imported engines) and it is clear that Holden are primarily an engine building company.

and pay attention to the fact that you dug up a 2 year old thread and it might make sense that race results are wrong. HOWEVER isn't the standing for bathurst something like 24 to holden and 14 to ford? and in the history of V8 supercars there have been 7 seasons to holden and 5 to ford.
So, holden build engines. Holden sell more cars in australia than ford. Holden export to more markets. Holden have a better race history in V8 supercars AND bathurst. The Commodore is STILL more popular than the falcon. good point about crashing them though... the amount of time put into crashing holdens at the holden-monash university crash lab and the customer care shown by ford with vehicles like the pinto, I'd rather be in a holden in an accident too!

That's not what i heard.. But then again i didn't look at all the statistics.
If you show me a picture (unedited) with a holden in the middle east i will say no more. But that's where they deserve to be, with the filthy Arabs and muslims. I wouldn't want Ford Australia's model's to be exported. I want them to stay here. Where they belong, where they are loved.

You only read the statistics for 2005, that doesn't mean they have sold more cars than Ford.

Trust me i'd never get in a Holden. Put a brick on the accelerater and watch the foreign engine, no-thought-put-into chassis and all round useless fucking "car" and watch it crash.. It would be spectacular, the view would be worth a million words.
