trouble with dual tanks

I have a 91 f-150 with dual tanks and I don't what the deal is. When I hit the switch, my gas gauge switches over to the other tank but I cannot hear the fuel pump engage. Do you guys think I have a bad fuel pump or is it possible that there is a problem with the wiring? And if so, what do I do? Thanks for the help,
Don't care what others think, still love my
2wd Ford truck
