stepside bed

hey y'all , i'm new here . i was just dumb enough to buy an 83 f-150 in terrible shape . so expect to see alot of me because i'm guessing i'll be constantly working on it . anyway it's got an 8 foot bed and it's in pretty rotten shape , what i wanted to know is if i find a step side bed will it fit the wheel base ? and is it a pretty easy job to make it work ? i'm assuming i'd have to cut some of the frame off and re mount the bumper . is it worth my time to try or should i just find a new bed ?

Hey, there's nothing wrong with buying old Fords! All the work we put back into them just creates a stronger bond with the truck!?
