Lumina Z34 Battery Removal

Can someone tell me a way to remove the battery from the car? Is there some set of steps to take to get at it? Please help me out. Thanks.

Unbolt the bar on the right side, take out the washer fluid reservoir(preferably empty) and you are at the battery.

I got that far and the windshield washer fluid tank seemed stuck on something and i didn't want to force it out (although i did apply quite some force at one period). I even moved back the small fuse box behind the washer tank. There's nothing that could be snagged to the tank is there?

The Wishelid container has a piece that come down over one of the terminals. I beleive its the one closest to the cab of the car. You have to use a open end wrench or a small socket to unscrew the cable from the battery terminal. After you get the battery out, i would cut the little loop that was in your way before. It will not hurt it.

Lumina is one of the more diabolical battery replacements out there. I was gonna ask if you'd disconnected the washer pump and tubing from the res, but somebody beat me to it. That tip about clipping the hold down to the battery terminal is good too, I remember doing that on those older ones. Makes 'em go back together easier.

Another tip: remove the fusebox with the auxillary positive terminal from the strut tower, and move it out of the way. The windshield washer tank will come out very easily then.

Re: Lumina Z34 Battery Removal

The damn hold down on the battery sucks too. You have to wedge it out from underneith the air cleaner box.
