Whats the normal oil pressure?supranonturbo 01-14-2004, 04:10 PM I have a question hope can help me with this... My oil pressure gauge from my car is not working so i bought a mechanical oil pressure gauge and i dunno whats the normal pressure for my engine now(1989 nonturbo) but when i start it tells me 20 and then it goes down 15psi that from 0 to 100psi its showing me 15psi but once i give some gas it goes all the way to 40psi so i dunno whats right all i want to know if this is normal when i start the car shows me 15psi n the oil meter gauge.. thanks if not normal whats not right? what could it be? timming? projectsupramk3 01-14-2004, 04:24 PM :iceslolan The 7M uses a low pressure high volume oil system, that means low pressure cruising and even lower pressure at idle. Like I said in the email normal is between 5-40 at idle (depending on if its cold or hot) and 30+ish cruising. When you start it cold it should say about 40psi, the stock gauge isn't too accurate but it gives you a good idea, and of coarse the thickness of your oil and climate will change it also. maddog1001 01-18-2004, 07:47 AM As project replied it's pretty variable. According to what I could find out pressure should be measured at 3000rpm and should be between 36 and 72 psi! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
