Choke opens only half way?

I have a '85 with the 2.8 POS engine. I just rebuilt the carb but must have screwed up something putting it back together. I have the electric choke connected to the linkage for the "butterfly." When cold, the choke is shut but it is impossible for the butterfly to open 100 % even when warm/hot? I can't even open it manually. I don't have the electric choke spring tension too tight, so it isn't that. The secondary pull off bracket seems to block the choke linkage but the pull-off can only go on one way. Any ideas

Sounds like you have the choke linkage on incorrectly. sometimes it may let you assemble it but it is on incorrectly. Look at your other connection options
