Keyless Entry Remotesdanielsexton 01-13-2004, 05:44 PM Searching eBay for a keyless entry remote, i have read on many of the 99-2004 remotes that they work with other year models than 99-2004. Has anyone tried to program a 99-2004 remote to a 95 JGC? Does anyone know if it will work? Thanks! aliam0u 01-13-2004, 08:46 PM kuplo 01-14-2004, 12:06 PM I believe they work differently in that the remotes on the earlier (pre 1996 or 1997 -probably wrong with the years) work on infrared technology and the later years like 1999 work on radio waves frequencies, thats why on our older Jeeps you have to point the remote at the sensor, and on newer ones you just have to press the button pointing it in the general direction of the jeep. jwalker1970 02-01-2005, 02:12 PM Jeep remotes: (from a used car dealer who knows...) 89 to 91 Cherokee only: Infared remote remote # must match the # in the receiver in the ceiling (behind smoke colored eye) <must be in eye's sight of receiver> 92-95 Cherokee & GC: Infared two button remote, can be easily programmed to any equipped Jeep (with eye in ceiling or overhead console--looks like a bubble for a security camera only smaller.) <must be in eye's sight> 96 to 98 Cherokee & GC: RF remote square two or 3 button remote, works on radio frequency, 96 to 98's only. I haven't found any way to program them other than the dealer's computer. 99 to newer Cherokee & GC: RF remote, hourglass shaped. I have heard can be programmed to any chrysler product, unfortunately only by the dealer. Please someone tell me different about programming the 99 up remotes. I sell lots of used jeeps at my used dealership, and the new-car Jeep dealership give me a real screwing when I need remotes programmed. timmboj 09-25-2005, 04:47 PM I just got a new keyless remote for my 93 model, and by using the directions included, it seems like its programming, but its not working. Does anyone know how I can check if the infrared receiver in the roof is working? And if its not working, would the keyfob automatically double-blink after 5 seconds when programming? Bob D. 09-25-2005, 11:01 PM I need remotes programmed. Please someone tell me different about programming the 99 up remotes. I sell lots of used jeeps at my used dealership, and the new-car Jeep dealership give me a real screwing when I need remotes programmed.. There is no way to program the '99 up remotes without a dealer programming tool. I'm surprised they charge you...customers get them done free when they buy a new remote. Same for the key.
