2002 w/ Overheating prob

All,

Have a friend with a 2002 Rodeo that is overheating at idle. She found the radiator very low and reserve empty. A mechanic said something was blocked and that the ecc or ecg needed replacing? Or some such. (She is 1000 miles away from me so I can't look for myself.) They want to charge her $500 for the repair saying the part is $74 and it will take 6 hours of labor to do it. I'm just trying to imagine exactly what this is so I can advise her.

If it isn't a leaking radiator or hose, stuck thermostat, faulty cooling fan, then I am at a loss. Those are the things I have dealt with on my old Toyota and other cars. Ideas?

Thanks, G.

Isuzu has a very good warrenty. I would bet whatever is the trouble is with her Rodeo will be covered under the 3yr/60k mile bumper to bumper warrenty.

Good to see you over here Ryan. G, like Ryan says- Definately have your friend get their 2002 into an isuzu dealer ASAP. Most everything should still be covered by factory warranty. Overheating an all aluminum engine will kill it in no time. G/luck
