4X4 Clicking but not engaging

just purchased a 95 jimmy and got it to go into 4lo once but now when I press 4lo the 4lo light flashes and I hear a click about 5-7 times in a row and it goes back to 2hi. The transmission was rebuilt 1-1 1\2 years ago so the transmission I beleive is fine. I tried the unhooking the battery trick but it has no effect. Any ideas? Thanks

My 2000 Blazer does the same thing. Try this - from a stop hit 4hi button and press the gas. Should engage the 4 wheel drive. Work on mine. Good luck

Re: 4X4 Clicking but not engaging

How are you attempting to do this with the transfer case warm from driving down the road in 4hi stop completly put in neutral and push 4lo button and engage. or driving down the road or in any gear and push the 4lo button without 4hi being engaged.. ?? You might find the 1st selection will work, even starting cold, key on, neutral, push 4lo, SHOULD engage.

To engage 4 lo the transmission should be in neutral. Can you shift to 4 high?
