Unhappy 98 Blazer- heat/cool rheostat has no effect

Hi everyone. Great forums!

I have a 98 Blazer and the heat is always blowing extremely hot air right up until the very last click on the cold side, then it blows all cold air (with ambient outside air being cold).

We've had the radiator flushed and cleaned since we found the "rust" in the cooling system. Didn't seem to help.

It has worked off and on before, but now we're back to the always hot scenario. Does anyone have any ideas on potential problems and fixes?

Is the automatic climate control run by a computer that actuates the control valves or is it vaccuum driven or something? Anyone who can tell me about the system a little, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,
gns2005

Hey I have almost the same issue. Except that mine always stays on hot regardless of where the climate control knob (temp knob) is set. i replaced that knob once with a used one and it worked for about 2 days. It orignally stopped working aout a year ago when i had my windshield wipers fixed because they didnt work. I found a couple of threads that say that it could be a vacuum leak... Also someone said to just buy a brand new knob and that will fix it. Hey Ill trade you knobs =) lol
