Lightbulb TB Problems-Cold starting

My TB starts hard in the cold. (zero degrees) It makes a loud squeeling sound that will not go away even after it's warmed up. Also the steering makes a whining noise. More then any other vehicle I have owned before. Is this something that can be fixed.

Also, I almost got stranded in the cold when it wouldn't start. I cranked it 4 time and on the 5th try it started, but the service engine light came on. The next day the light was off. Any suggestions?

Can anyone get there rear wiper to wipe good?

My rear defroster only defrosts the top third. Do I need new rear glass installed?

One more thing. Does anyone get cold feet? I cant get much warm air out of the floor vents.

I live in Minnesota so it's cold, but nothing an SUV hasn't seen before.

I experienced the same loud whining/squeeling when I started mine last Tuesday in the zero temps of the Twin Cities. The sound died down quite a bit after warming up. The engine tends to have a whine sound to it normally, and I think the cold makes it worse. My .2 cents.

Also, I almost got stranded in the cold when it wouldn't start.

Mine took two tries in the cold.

Not really.

Have Dealer check out.

I would have dealer check also. I have not had this problem with the MN cold of last week yet.

Re: TB Problems-Cold starting

Oh man you're not kidding...I just started mine two days in a row and it did the very loud grinding sound.....I's in 0 degree weather and hasn't ever done this before. Obviously it's got to do with the cold weather, I believe from my guess it has to be either the oil pump or the internals making the noise because the oil is so cold it can't flow correctly for a minute until it gets flowing...this is not a good thing, putting alot of wear on something. Gonna talk to the dealer tomorow about the issue. Will post response later....

Re: TB Problems-Cold starting

You guys are not the only ones. i have a 2002 TB LTZ and this winter is the first time i have had to deal with many problems. For one, lol, you guys have almost been stranded, well i have, three times these past 2 weeks. I had the battery replaced after it didn't start one moring (with the remote start). Later on that day as i am driving in 5degree weather it decides to die out. Here i am on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck when another trailblazer pulls up to me, and says all i need is a jump. so he gives me a jump and off i go home. drove 2 more hours got home fine. next morning get up no problems, truck turns on and i am out. two days later same problem. Take it to dealer, they say the battery is good, alternator is fine, can't duplicate problem. That was 4 days ago. here i am today, with the same problem, truck doesn't turn on and key won't comeout of ignition. any suggestions?

Knowing these vehicles a bit (I install remote starts) I would be scared as to what it is. My first guess is that it is the ignition cyl./modual. GM has had many problems with these in other vehicles. The thing that really scares me is that the computer runs everything. When you twist the keys to start, the computer actually starts the car, not you. It also does the throttle. There is no throttle cable to the throttle body, it is done by wires and the computer.

Unhappy i got stranded

Ok, here is the fix for the TB not starting. After weeks of it starting hard and turning the key about 10 times before it even attempted to start. It finally took it last breath. So, off it went on a car hauler to the dealer. Thank god it was still under warranty!!!!!! The fix was very easy. THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY. Fires up now everyday. I hope this helps anybody with the same problems.
