Question remote start install

I have a 2001 Tahoe LT with the 5.3. How difficult are these to install? I was thinking of getting one from DEI or Audiovox. I received a quote from Circuit City for the DEI unit plus the GM Passlock bypass module installed for $229. Is this a simple plug in type install or is it better to have an installer do it?

Go with the DEI unit. You'll be glad you did. They actually supply GM with factory keyless and remote starters! If you have never installed a remote start or alarm, I would let someone else do it. Not that it is all that hard but the tricks and tools we have make it that much better.

For $229, that better be the 562t with keyless, horn honk, and 2 transmitters. You should have them hook up rear defrost too.
