Fox Chevrolet of Timonium
Timonium, MD

My girlfriend bought a 2000 Monte Carlo SS in November of 2002. When she bought the car, the salesman told her that the previous owners had bought an extended warranty and she did not need one. The car now has 48,000 miles on it

Just over the christmas break, she lost 4th gear on our way up to New Jersey from Maryland. After we get back, we call a dealer who says his tech will inspect it for $550. i asked about the warranty and he said that there was none for the car. Se we took the car in anyway's becuase it did need work done. Well, I had thought it would be around 14-1500 for a new tranny installed.

Apparently not. The dealer called her and told her it would be $3300 for a new transmission installed. She called me crying. I called the dealer and started questioning him, his name is Barry, about all the prices and how it could cost so much.

He told me the tranny alone cost $2100 and the labor was $950, because that is how long Chevy says it should take. That still did not add up to the $3300. He refused to answer anymore of my questions. So I called another Chevy dealer to ask how much the tranny would be. He told me $1475. I called back Barry and he called me a flat liar. I gto enraged then.

Apparently, the car's 3rd and 4th gear had melted together and this wa sa fairly common problem. So I started calling places and one place had a tranny that had a better warranty than Chevy and the company that made them found 7 problems with the OEM transmission.

So I tell my G/F this and she wants to take the car there. They would install a new tranny for $2100. The tranny alone cost $1800 and $300 in labor. I go to pick up the car and the transmission is in boxes on the floor of the shop. They did not even bother to put it back together or ven in the car. After I got the car to the new place, I popped the hood and the engine was just hanging there. they did not even re-mount it.

Very Piss poor customer service.

We got the car back yesterday and apparently Fox Chevrolet decided to leave out 5 bolts and 2 retainling clips. I am going up there to get the money back for those.

um....fox chevrolet sucks...i went there with my parents back in like 1997 or 98...and my parents wanted to test drive a car...and the sales guy drove it...he said they couldn't drive it...they could just ride in it. what the fuck kind of shit is that? how can you buy a car without driving it first? but yeah that's why i haven't been there since. i'm pretty sure it was the same one in timonium. or maybe it was annapolis. i don't remember. oh well...but um what i'd do is just go to a motorsports place and get an aftermarket transmission. i bet it won't cost no $3100.
