Question Pulley noise...

For some strange reason I have this noise from my pulley area only when it's cold or it rain. Even with the truck being parked for days it makes that noise, but once she's warm it's fine. Any insight?

I have the same thing on mine. Haven't checked into it yet though. Since it has gotten cold it will do it when warming up, but when it is warmed up, it doesn't do it.

Squeakin too

I got the same type of noise on my 99 The belt was replaced about a year ago... Seems to be squeaky when damp and colder outside... On the Suburban board I was suggested to replaced the belt with a different brand.. The Tensioner from what I can tell is in good shape... I also tried a small squirt of WD 40 Sprayed just behinf the topmost smaller pulley thats located in the center of the engine about level with the intake manifold....Seemed to quiet slightly for only a short time only... In the past I had a new style '01 Sub and '99 Astro that did the same damn thing

Re: Pulley noise...

My friend I have the answer to your noise problem. Check the Idler pulley on the passenger side under the engine. I think this is the smog pump idler.

Had the same thing on my 99. Thought it was a pulley or belt tensioner. It was just the belt. Also, don't squirt anything around your belt. You will ruin it.

01 Tahoe does the exact same thing. Stealer says its normal. Standard answer.
Actually he said change the belt.
