Thumbs down Won't start 96 Blazer

Are fuel pumps going bad common on 96 Blazer with 4.3? Also, where is the test lead for the fuel pump (a color too)? When the key is turned on I can here relays clicking but not the fuel pump. I am trying to test everything possible before dropping the tank.

Re: Won't start 96 Blazer

Did you have any signs that it was going bad. I can hear my fuel pump kick on and sometimes it won't kick on and thats when i'm having problems starting it. It does happen all that often and when it does the fuel pump eventually does kick on. Any suggestions from anyone?

Re: Re: Won't start 96 Blazer

IM BACK FROM A 4 HOUR BATTLE WITH THE TANK AND THE PUMP DID TURN OUT TO BE BAD. BOTH MOUNTS WERE RUSTY, ONE BROKE OFF AND THE OTHER I RELUCTANTLY CUT WITH THE DIE GRINDER. I FOUND DIRT IN THE FILTERS BOTH ON THE PICKUP AND PUMP AND A LITTLE DIRT IN THE PUMP. ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THE PICKUP IS FRAGILE WHERE THE HOSES ON TOP MOUNT ON AND BROKE ONE AND NOW HAVE TO REPLACE IT TOO. THOSE CONNECTORS ON THE HOSES ARE JUST GREAT TOO . ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE EXTRA SLACK THEY GIVE YOU TO DROP THE TANK ENOUGH TO REACH UP THERE.

OFC

You are using borrow time, the fuel pump is going bad. As for replacing it, Mod sums it up. I too replaced mine then replaced the tank and sending unit as it has rusted connections leaving me to beind the lines causing poor fuel flow.
