8.1L 2002 drivetrain howl

Upon deceleration from 50 mph, drivetrain "howls". 34k miles. Anyone have this problem? Any TSB's?

Re: 8.1L 2002 drivetrain howl

check rearend fluid, fill backup to where it is even with the plug in the middle of the pumpkin. if it still howls after you do this, it has been overheated and the only way to get it out is replace the ring and pinion. if you drain and flush it and replace the oil with amsoil synthetic it may lessen the noise. that would be 80-90w synthetic oil for rearends. andif you have a limitedslip you may have to add the additive for the clutches.
