Shimmy under braking!!!!!!!96Rivman 01-02-2004, 12:40 PM Hello all, the problem is this. I installed new brake rotors/pads up front, had the rears turned and new pads. The car has 110K on it and when I apply the brakes it shimmies between 65-40mph. It did this before the brake job so I am wondering if it could be something else. The wheel bearings all the way around feel good. The shocks/struts are original I believe. I am wondering if the rotors that I bought could gave been bad from the get go? Any ideas? Thanks tman 01-02-2004, 01:27 PM Hows your brake fluid holding up? Take a look at that, because you might have air in the brakes, and need to bleed them. 96Rivman 01-02-2004, 04:59 PM I forgot to mention that I bled all four brakes per the factory manual. I sucked out all the old fluid and started with fresh stuff and bled the lines until clear fluid ran through all four. Thanks dougmurray2 01-16-2004, 05:54 PM I had the same problem, replaced disks, measured runout, etc. to no avail. I ended up taking off the aftermarket disks and putting on a set of GM disks on the front. That fixed it. Aftermarket disks for some unknown reason had no effect. MrBiggs 03-28-2004, 04:27 PM I've got a 95 and the same thing just started happening to me 2-3 months ago. It's like a pretty small but fast shaking right? jadmonkey 07-03-2004, 12:00 AM What type of pads are you using... I opt for the more costly pair, the cheaper ones seem to cause a lot more shaking during braking... I could be way off... sikz3 07-05-2004, 10:56 PM my 91 does the same thing if braking above 45 mph vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
