Re: Mini S

I was driving my stock 84 GTI to work a couple of times and both times I encountered basic minis. Both for some strange reason wanted to race me from light to light. NOthing high end, top speed of 50mph. The first time I thought boy I'm going to get smoked but I thought what the hell. Let's see what my old GIT has in her after 112k miles. I was shocked that I got off the line alot quicker and beat it by half a car length. The same thing happened with the other one I raced. I must admit that both times they were women driving and perhaps they weren't that familiar with reving up the cars before you shift. I read the stats on the basic minis and they have about 115hp. Of course their down fall is all the luxury car crap that they put in them so people will buy them. They need to learn from the early GTI's. EVerything light weight. No power this and that and mega sound system. I wa amused that my 90hp GIt could hold it's own against a modern Mini.
