Post Electical problem

1989 jeep cherokee
went to have the battery checked

turned truck on but wouldn't turn all the way over. check coil, not spark. checked and coil is good or bad, they said it's the ignition control modual. told her should would also have to change the pick up. ( what ever that is) told her she ahs to change the distributer. so she changed it and it didn't work. told her she has to have a short. one minute she can start it and there is nothing, ther next she can start it. WHen it woen't start it turns fast but won't turn over. but when she jumps it, it starts. So they said it's the ground wire, so she changed it. went to start it and it won't start. SO she jumped it again and it started

now she cleaned the connection. she cut the wires and made new connections, and it still wouldn't start. the batter and everything has been tested, and no one can find the problem. Now they test it, and they say the battery is bad, and the alternator is pushing too much power to it, cause the capacity on the battery has been lowered. So then she put a new battery in and it just ticks, then she put the old batter back in and it starts right up. Then she drove down the freeway, turned the blinker on and the whole thing died.

What the hell is wrong with it does anyone know?

Hi,

I'd check the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS). This sensor is located on the driver's side of the transmission bellhousing
(and a real pain in the a$$ to get to). But they are known to cause random stalling or no start situations.

Hmmm, I haven't been back to this forum in sometime... but there's a response for you
