Replacing the Head Gasketsupraman_2 12-29-2003, 04:08 AM I was wondering about using a metal head gasket on an engine that hasn't been blown yet. Now my question, which I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, is if the gasket hasn't been blown do I need to resurface the head. My main question is does anyone know of a good place in the sacramento area that does a good job of surfacing the head. Thanks projectsupramk3 12-29-2003, 01:20 PM You definetly should, some people have gotten away with not resurfacing or doing any machining to the head but i would hate to rebuild the engine just to have it blow and have to do it again. You should have it checked out by a machine shop though, they could tell you weather the surface is already smooth enough for the MHG or not. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
