Question Door won't open. Can I take panel off/elec. latch not working?

My 98 explorer sport drivers door (electric locks) got stuck in locked position. I am crawling over passenger seat to get in an out. Can I take the panel off, and get to electric lock, and fix myself, or should I take it to dealership. I am pretty handy, but this puzzles me. Would appreciate a helpful answer. Thanks

Re: Door won't open. Can I take panel off/elec. latch not working?

Can you get the door open at all any time or with the key. As you will need the door open in order to take the doorpanel off without breaking it. It almost sounds like the latch rod has come off inside the door. Thats is why ask if you can use the key to unlock the door. The latch it self maybe broke. Good luck try this site it might give you some pics to help with the parts www.ford-auto-parts-dealer.com just go throught the colision manual some times they have pics of the parts you are looking for it will say view illustration. Good luck
