What's going on with GM's 3800 ??77_Vette 12-27-2003, 12:25 PM Hi again......... I posted my problem with my 3800 (Series II) with collant loss several weeks ago. Members who posted were right - manifold gasket - to make a very long story short !! This plastic piece was used in my 1998 Lumina LTZ. Further research on the net shows that GM has a recall for this applying to all 2000 - 2003 GM products with this engine - Impala, Regal, Bonneville, etc, etc. My question is this: Has GM FINALLY got this silly thing fixed with the 2004 engines ???? Apparantly this does not apply to the supercharged engines as they didn't use plastic - they kept to aluminum due to higher operating pressures. Any thoughts or opions out there on this ??????? MustangRoadRacer 12-27-2003, 02:47 PM that's gm for you. Jporter12 12-28-2003, 12:24 AM Did you just have to do the gasket, or was the upper intake (Plenum) also leaking? I've seen a number of them leaking just past the throttle body, from the coolant holes, to the EGR passage. As for them fixing it, I really doubt it. To really fix it, they'd have to get away from the plastic gasket, and Dexcool. 77_Vette 12-28-2003, 12:47 PM Jporter12.........just the gasket, so we'll see what happens in the coming months. In the meantime we have "Plan B" underway - prepare to get rid of the car before the 1 year warranty work that was done expires !! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
