I've been going through similar problems, but sometimes it won't restart.

I would recommend getting the following checked thoroughly:

Ignition Switch. Inexpensive...might as well replace it.

Have you replaced battery recently? Make sure if so, whoever did it didn't take out a zinc washer the should separate the ACC and IGN power cables going into the POS terminal on battery.

Might be a good idea to check out the fuses....I've heard a good suggestion about resetting the computer by taking each fuse out with the key in the ACC position....remove each fuse 30 seconds apiece.

Good luck!!

Check if you get a spark from the ignition system. Take off one spark plug, put a screw driver or somting like this inside the plug and bring it near to the engine block. The try to start the engine. If you donīt get a spark flashing from the plugto the motor block, the have the distributer changed. It will you cost about 300 dollars. I had the same problem and a lot of touble with this but finally its all solved.

I had this same problem with a mitsubishi eclipse once, which is essentially the exact same car under the hood. It turned out to be the computer which had to be replaced. I was able to buy a used one from an export salvage yard and a mechanic replaced it.
The problem is getting the car to stay broke long enough for a mechanic to perform tests to deterimine if it is the computer. If this is happening to you I would say it will eventually fail to start for at least an extended period of time.

i own a 1999 sebring and had the same problem when i bought it. For me, it was the Alternator Belt. Based on how you describe the problem, that would be my guess

Mopars are notorius for this. Old and new alike. 99% of the time it is a switch in the distributer. That part normally costs about $12. Save the headache of changing the switch and replace the distibuter. They really don't cost that much, i.e. if you can do it yourself. Otherwise $300 to $400. Good luck

I just fixed my wife's 96 Sebring by changing out the MAP sensor for $60, took me 5 minutes. Her car was very intermittently stalling and hesitating.

Holy crap, you'll be a month lookin at all that stuff. UMMMMM, just on the offsideways thought, maybe get it scanned for codes. Maybe the history codes might help. I have a 95 with a 2.5 and it needs plug wires BAD. Like for the last year. I just put the foot in the pan and up she comes.Expect anything more from a tech?
