My 2003 20th anniversary gti brakes are exremely loud. My dealer says thats normal. Any suggestions on what I can do to rid my car of its only major fault.

the pads might be glazed take them out and sand off the glazed part and put copper grease on the back of each pad (break lightly until they bed in again!)

Lightbulb I have the same problem.

I have the same problem, it started with about 4k miles on her, brought her into the dealership they couldn't figure anything out. I narrowed it down to the rear brakes, they just cleaned them because of an abnormal amount of brake dust build up. then it was fine for a month, started squeakin real loud again. I brought it in again, I talked to a tech who owns one with the same problem, he said the the form and size of the 18in rims don't allow the brake dust to properly "blow" out during driving and it just builds up so eventually you are braking and you've got brake pad against rotor with brake dust build in between. The only solution is change pads or pressure spray them clean more often than usual. Hope this helps, I'm thinking about getting new pads I've heard the Mintex red box are a good set to go with because they don't let off alot of dust.
